Lawal

Brand name Lawal
Meaning of name Lawal is a personal name, derived from Arabic el awal, ‘the first’, ‘the prime’. It is the name of a male family member of the Malian importers of this brand, who has been a trader as well. The brand Lawal arrived in 2005 on the Malian market, and was at first available in four different qualities, indicated by the different colours of the packages. Lawal first appeared in white-blue colours with a small shot glass filled with tea. Later the design was changed into yellow with a camel. There was also a version in imitation of the green-white Flecha design with the letters Lawal instead of Flecha, to be noticed only at a second look.
